Project Overview
Case studies provide a concrete way to discuss ethical issues and concepts. There are three cases in this set of AI ethics tools that present local Alberta, real-world scenarios.
- On Demand Transit: This case explores how shifts in technology can have impacts on privacy in the context of the delivery of public services, such as public transit.
- Biometric Banking: This case explores the use of biometrics, a special class of data, in relation to providing banking services for underserved populations.
- Hey Mylo: Companion Robots: This case explores roboethics and issues related to human-robot relationships in the context of dementia care.
The case studies can be used independently by students to reflect on the questions in each case with written responses. However, the cases are best applied in small group discussions. The exercises, in particular, are geared towards small groups of 4-6 students.
